A+ IN PERSEVERANCE
Despite the challenges, TEDxLagunaBlancaSchool was beyond a successful event—
it was an inspiring testament to the hard work and resilience of all of the students
committed to launching it.
TEDxLagunaBlancaSchool went live as planned on January 31, selling 500 tickets—a
full house—and raising nearly $50,000 in sponsorships alone. The slate of speakers
included a psychologist, an Olympian, a fi efighte , one Laguna alumnus and four
current Laguna students, among others. Coincidentally, all of them seemed to share a
similar theme: having the resilience to rise up after difficul or painful challenges—be it
a community-shattering shooting at UC Santa Barbara, the recent natural disasters, or
being born in a body diffe ent than the one you personally relate to. Student speaker
Samuel Rae Bernstein ’20 may have said it best: “We all have good days and bad days;
we all struggle. And we all try to persevere.”
