ORIGINAL ARTWORK BY
CASSANDRIA BLACKMORE
“Shattering the Conventional”
Laguna parent and artist Cassandria Blackmore takes an unconventional
approach to painting, which manifests itself in exquisite and elegant
beauty. Cassandria’s work is reverse painted on glass that is
subsequently shattered and reassembled. Each piece uniquely blends
the fluidity of painting, the tactile qualities of sculpture and the refractional
nature of glass. It is the essence of breaking down an image and
restoring it to another version of itself that intrigues the artist and viewer.
Some of her recent commissions include a large scale permanent
installation for the lobby of the new Waldorf Astoria, The Crocker Art
Museum Permanent Collection, MGM Center, and Floyd and Delores
Jones Playhouse.
•The name of the piece is “Nerissa Amphitrite,” which translates to
“Sea Goddess.”
•Reverse painting on glass.
•40” h x 40” w.
