SUMMER 2014
1
As I mentioned in my interview in the last issue
of Laguna Blanca Magazine, my focus through my
first few months will be to learn as much as I can
about Laguna Blanca’s past and present so that
we can begin to shape its future. That process
will include having conversations with as many
of you as possible. I have also begun to reach
out to peers at other institutions in the greater
Santa Barbara community, and participated in the
NAIS New Heads Institute in Atlanta in July. I look
forward to harnessing all that I’ve learned during
the beautiful California summer.
Looking ahead, I am so excited by the wonderful things awaiting us this
coming school year, from our Early Kindergarten program (p. 14) to our STEM
Entrepreneur Program (p. 13), new sand volleyball courts (p. 11), expanding
alumni programs (p. 32), and so much more.
This fall, I will hold meetings with groups of parents, students, and alumni
as I continue my learning tour of our community. I will keep our parent
community posted as plans unfold. In the meantime, I welcome the
opportunity to meet those of you who are in the area. Please take the time
to introduce yourself if you happen to see me walking around campus. I am
looking forward to my journey with you!
Warmly,
Rob Hereford
HEAD OF SCHOOL
DEAR MEMBERS OF THE LAGUNA BLANCA COMMUNITY,
It is with great joy that I announce I have arrived in Santa Barbara! It was
thrilling to meet so many wonderful families and to see so many young,
smiling, and enthusiastic faces during our Lower School Summer Program.
Thank you to all who have already made me and my family feel so welcome
during our short time in California.
