IN JUST THE PAST 12 MONTHS, CARSON HAS SERVED:
200+ hours as an emergency room volunteer at Santa
Barbara Cottage Hospital
71 hours as a race management volunteer for the Santa
Barbara Yacht Club
48 hours as a volunteer sailing instructor for the Santa
Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation
He has also served as manager of the Upper School student
store and business manager for Laguna’s award-winning
student publication, The Fourth Estate.
Carson’s hard work has already earned him three Gold
Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, each of which requires
more than 250 hours of service in a 12-month period for his
age range.
This fall, Carson is off to Chapman University to study
business management. Congratulations, and thank you
for all of the work you have done for our community!
ONE OWL FLIES ABOVE AND BEYOND IN SERVICE:
CARSON SHEVITZ ’16
Each year, one exemplary senior is granted the Sue
Alexander Service Award for exhibiting exceptional
dedication to helping others within the community. This past
year, that award went to Carson Shevitz ’16, a Laguna
student who has documented more than 1,000 service
hours since his freshman year alone.
“In its 20-plus years of publication, The Fourth Estate has never had
a better business manager than Carson. He did the work of an entire
team—everything from creating advertising contracts, invoices, and
client lists, to preparing the magazines for mailing to our subscribers.
Carson set the bar high for future business managers.”
