Seventeen extraordinary fourth graders took their final bow at the Laguna Lower School on June 9
in the school’s annual closing ceremony. This year’s celebration was even more special, with students in
this year’s class hailing from Brazil, China, and Denmark, not to mention the United States!
Head of Laguna Blanca School Rob Hereford, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mason Farrell ’80,
Head of the Lower School Andy Surber, and Fourth Grade Teacher Donna Brown were on-hand for
the festivities, in which they shared their love for this year’s students and the leadership, hard work, and
intelligence they shared with one another throughout their five years on campus.
During the celebration, fourth grade students performed the song “The Circle Game” by Joni
Mitchell and “Waka Waka” by Shakira while doing the parachute dance. In true Laguna tradition,
each student received an owl necklace, a diploma, and flowers for their proud parents before leaving the
campus for one last time.
The Lower School will miss you, class of 2024! But we’re so excited for all that lies ahead.
