Our sincerest gratitude to our Spring Benefit
Chair, Cynthia McClintock, and her extraordinary committee
for their vision and devotion to creating an unforgettable
benefit for Laguna on Saturday evening.
Under Cynthia’s steadfast leadership and focused-positive
energy, we are thrilled to report that preliminary results from
sponsorship, ticket sales, faculty/staff raffle, silent, online,
and live auctions exceeded all expectations and indicate net
proceeds of more than $600,000.
In the midst of all the fun, Cynthia and
Sponsorship Chair Carol King remained dedicated to the goal—to
raise funds to support Laguna’s students, teachers, and staff who
continue our 80+ year legacy of academic excellence. Special
thanks to our event sponsors who
generously donated funds to underwrite the event and many of our
live auction packages.
Thanks to more than $200,000 in event underwriting
and a record number of sponsors, all
event proceeds will have an immediate impact and support our
student programs, innovative curriculum, faculty professional
development, scholarships, and campus renovations.
We also had a record number of
attendees--over 300--who represented a myriad of constituencies
including current and alumni parents, grandparents, foundations,
alumni, corporations and community partners.
THANK YOU!

LAGUNA ALUM SPENCER DUSEBOUT INVITES SB COMMUNITY
TO WALK 4 WATER ON 3/19
|
Leading by example is often easier in theory than
in practice, but you wouldn’t know that by looking at Laguna alum
Spencer Dusebout ’11. He was recently featured as a TED X
speaker at Oaks Christian School where he spread his message that
youth can do anything – and that by “taking ideas and following
through with them, we will make an incredible impact on the
world.” Though only in his early twenties, Spencer stands on good
authority to say this.

THE BOO RADLEY OF SANTA
BARBARA
|
Anna
Alldredge’s eighth grade English class has a new literary project
to share:
“As we examine Harper Lee's To Kill a
Mockingbird, my English students have been exploring the
concepts of mood and genre. Mockingbird is a classic Southern
Gothic text, incorporating monsters, mystery, danger, social
decay, and otherness. Granted, that makes the book sound
terribly bleak - but lighthearted humor makes its way into the
story through Scout's youthful narration.”
