THIRD GRADERS TRAVEL TO
LEGOLAND COMPETITION THIS WEEKEND!
Three
teams of Laguna third graders will head down to LEGOLAND this
Saturday, February 20 to participate in the Jr. FIRST® ("For
Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology")
LEGO® League Expo. Each team has been working hard during their
after school club to create a model and display board for the
Expo.
The event's theme this season is Waste-Wise. Each
team was challenged to (1) choose a piece of trash that they
might throw away and choose a specific item that is either
disposable, recyclable, or reusable, 2) learn what happens to
that piece of trash after they're done with it, and (3) show what
they learned through a LEGO® model that has a movable part using
a simple machine, and a Show Me poster to display at the EXPO.
According to their LEGO League Coaches Ms.
Svedlund and Miss O'Connor, the teams are looking forward to
enjoying the big LEGOLAND adventure this weekend. At the Expo they
will meet with reviewers who will evaluate their LEGO models,
they will view models made by other Southern California teams,
and participate in a High Five ceremony. Afterward, the team
members will celebrate their hard work by enjoying LEGOLAND!
