THIRD GRADERS TAKE ON BIG ROLES IN CLASS
PLAY
On
Friday, Third Grade students transformed into memorable
historical figures in the play, The Greatest Americans of the
Twentieth Century. This play introduced students to major
figures, ideas, and events of twentieth-century America.
In
this "awards show," the cast of characters received
awards for their achievements throughout history. Some of the
characters included:
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Martha Graham, the
Wright Brothers, Ernest Hemingway, Rachel Carson, Walt Disney,
Franklin, Teddy, and Eleanor Roosevelt, Henry Ford, Georgia
O'Keeffe, Babe Ruth, and Babe Didrikson.
"It was so much fun learning all of the lines
and performing. I loved being on stage!" -
Alexis Fell (Angelica the Narrator)
"I learned a lot about my character, Teddy
Roosevelt. It was neat learning about his life." - Tyson
Devez
The
play was just one part of an interdisciplinary unit called The
Invention Convention, which also included creating an
invention in science, creating a digital bulletin board called
"Glogster" in technology, and researching and writing
reports in social studies/writer's workshop.
Great job,Third Grade!
