CONGRATULATIONS TO LATIN
INSTRUCTOR KATHY PILLER ON RECEIVING HER PH.D.!
|
Congratulations to Kathy Piller, who just finished
her Ph.D. in Classics! Dr. Piller spent eight years in her
program at UCLA before coming to Laguna Blanca in 2014. Her
dissertation was on the Emperor Nero with each chapter covering a
different aspect of his life. “He may have a bad reputation,
but his reign produced some of the finest art and architecture of
the Roman Empire,” she explains. While researching Nero, Dr.
Piller was lucky enough to travel to New York, London, and Rome
to study his coinage. While in Rome, she also spent a great deal
of time studying his palace, the Golden House. We couldn’t be
more proud of you, Dr. Piller! We look forward to learning more
about Nero in your upcoming Latin classes!
